Clinical Hypnotherapy
WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
"The mind always remembers"
The mind retains everything we have been shown, learned, observed. It absorbs information in the lateral sense and has no sense of good or bad, right or wrong.
The way we behave, respond to situations and people, how they behave and treat us, our experiences remain with us and create beliefs about ourselves and others. Some experiences can create traumatic responses in us, we can develop coping strategies such as anxiety, stress, negative beliefs about ourselves and/or others. We can develop habits such as excess drinking, eating, smoking, nail biting. Or we can isolate ourselves, develop controlling behaviours such as aggression, poor eating habits and self care.
The mind retains these and continues to support us even in ways that are no longer useful or serve a purpose.
If we think of the mind as a computer programme full of outdated programmes then hypnotherapy works on an unconscious level engaging with the brain to accept new programmes to replace the outdated one(s).
What happens during the Hypnosis session?
You will always be in control!
Hypnosis has been described as a dreamlike state. A feeling between sleep and awaking.
Trance is something most of us do frequently: Getting to a destination with no memory of the journey (auto-pilot), losing track of a conversation, a film, TV programme because we have 'drifted off'. Hypnosis is like this. If at any time you do not feel safe or comfortable you can quickly slip out of this trance so you will never dance around the room clucking like a chicken or anything else you might have seen on Stage Hypnotism.
Clinical Hypnosis works by sending you into a deeper trance-like state of calm receptivity allowing your subconscious mind to consider and accept direct and in-direct suggestions.
You have the power to decide how deeply into trance you go and you may decide to resist.
If at any time during the hypnosis you feel uncomfortable the session will be stopped.
Hypnotherapist DO NOT have the power to control you.
What can Hypnotherapy help with?
Relaxation, insomnia, anxiety, weight management, stress, smoking/vaping cessation, confidence, self worth/esteem, excessive worrying, fear, phobias, bereavement, relationships, habits (e.g nail biting).
